About us

Welcome to the Hertford Company of Archers

We are a friendly club of some 120 members. We cater for all ages from 8 yrs upwards and have wheelchair access too. Offering target archery facilities for recurve, compound and longbow we participate in the Hertfordshire Archery Association winter and summer leagues while some of our members choose to compete on a local, regional and national level as well.

We also hold our own competitions.

Our archery field, at Haileybury College, is maintained by our members and is open all year round in daylight hours. September to March we hold a weekly indoor shoot at The Drill Hall in Ware.

We have Level 1 and 2 GNAS qualified coaches who hold regular coaching and development sessions for our members. We also offer a Taste of Archery course for those new to archery for which you can find more information here

A Little History

Founded in 1973, The Club was the brainchild of Mr Alf Webb who, with the help of some friends; Mrs & Mr H Gordon, Mr & Mrs E Jupp and Mr P Stubbs, set up the steering committee of what was to become HCA. By June 1973 there were 11 seniors and 4 junior members shooting at Hertford Town Football Club on West Street every Sunday.

In March 1975 the Club moved to Haileybury College where we still shoot today. We’re now lucky enough to have the benefit of dedicated archery field which allows us to shoot 7 days a week.
